The Mucha Foundation is delighted to announce its new show Timeless Mucha - Mucha to Manga: The Magic of Line which will go in tour in Japan from July 2019. Organised in partnership with NTV and showing some 250 works, this timely reappraisal of Mucha's graphic works will explore the development of his linear style and look at how it was rediscovered by later generations of artists, particularly the Psychedelic artists of the 1960s and 1970s and Japanese ‘manga’ artists of the 1970s to today.
Alongside seminal posters, drawings, book illustrations and designs, the exhibition will include artefacts from Mucha’s art collection, including Japanese prints, and interpretations of his work in fin-de-siècle Japan. It will show how his legacy influenced psychedelic rock culture in the US and the UK and Japanese Manga from the 70s to the present day. The exhibition will incorporate music associated with the rock posters and record jackets shown in the exhibition.
