On the 10th September, John Mucha, president of the Mucha Foundation, signed a historic partnership with regional councilors from South Moravia to open an exciting new Mucha Trail through the region.
The trail starts in Moravský Krumlov near Ivančice, Mucha's birthplace, and will lead visitors to villages and places that Mucha frequented in his lifetime and that have close ties to the artist's work. The itinary will include the town hall of Hrušovany nad Jevišovkou where visitors will be able to see early frescoes by Mucha. Painted in 1882 and covering the entire ceiling and some of the walls, the frescoes were hidden under plaster for a number of years and were only restored in 2017.
The tour will include the new Slav Epic display in the reconstructed halls of the castle in Moravský Krumlov. "I believe that the exhibition will not only attract visitors from the Czech Republic, but also Art Nouveau lovers from all over Europe," said the mayor of Moravský Krumlov and Senator Tomáš Třetina at the opening of the Slav Epic exhibition.
