The City of Prague has announced that Moravský Krumlov could house Alphonse Mucha's Slav Epic until such time as a permanent and appropriate home in Prague is found for the Epic.
The Epic was previously displayed in Moravský Krumlov from 1963 to 2012, and the people of Moravský Krumlov took care of Mucha's masterpiece through some of the darkest days of the 20th century. Without their efforts during this period, it is doubtful whether the Slav Epic would still exist today.
When Alphonse Mucha gave the Slav Epic to the City of Prague, the gift had a condition, which was that the City would build an appropriate home for his masterpiece. Until that permanent home in Prague is ready for the Epic, the Mucha Foundation can think of no better place for the Slav Epic than back in Moravský Krumlov.
