Georges Fouquet (1858-1929), Paris, after design by Mucha: Ornamental Chain with pendants (1900)
Designed for the leading Parisian jeweller Georges Fouquet, this spectacular piece of jewellery was displayed on Fouquet's stand at the International Exhibition in Paris 1900.
Combining elements from eastern and western art, this piece was included in one of Mucha's posters for Moët et Chandon champagne.
During his three-year collaboration with Fouquet, which began around 1898, Mucha produced several more designs, including the Snake Bracelet for Sarah Bernhardt seen in his poster Médée. Their partnership culminated in the new Fouquet shop, opened in 1901 in the rue Royale, Paris.
